Region Directors - Position 2 There are six director positions up for election - One position in each region. Region boundaries are determined by county lines. Check the region pages to see which region you reside in. The pdf form is linked at the bottom of this page. The form may be filled-in on line, it can not be saved or e-mailed - it must be printed and either mailed or faxed to the address on the form.
Nominees must be WALA individual members and in attendance at the WALA Annual Conference, March 8-10, 2007, in Vancouver, WA.
The Executive Committee meets monthly August through November, and January through June of each year. The Committee reviews policy implementation, recommends personnel, budget, and policy changes to the State Board of Directors.
The State Board of Directors meets four times a year: September Retreat, (Saturday); November Conference, 2nd Saturday in February, at the March Conference, and the 1st Saturday in May . The State Board of Directors are responsible for establishing the corporation's fiscal budget, Board Policy and discussing issues involving the WALA By-laws. Directors also fill the position of Region Representative.
President-Elect is a four year commitment; President-Elect, President, and Past President. This position serves as a voting member of the State Board of Directors and the Executive Committee, Nominations Committee Chair, and Editorial Board Chair.
Secretary Treasurer is a two year commitment. This position serves as a voting member of the State Board of Directors and the Executive Committee.
Region Representative is a two year commitment. Representatives are selected from their home region (Region boundaries can be found on the web at http://www.walakids.com. Representatives serve as voting members of the State Board of Directors, host region meetings for staff and student activities, and perform various functions at WALA conferences.
If you would like your name included on the ballot for one of these positions, please fill out the WALA Candidate Form (a copy of the form is available on the web (See bottom of this page) and send to Randy Hill by January 10, 2008. Positions not filed by February 1, 2008 will remain vacant on the ballot and subject to a write-in vote at the time of election.
A letter will be sent to each nominee’s immediate supervisor outlining the position’s responsibilities, detailing the commitment, and asking for their cooperation. Elections will be held during region meetings at the conference. Following elections, a second letter will be sent to the elected individual’s district outlining responsibilities and a proposed calendar of events for the 2007-08 year.
